I think I know animals . . .

October 22nd, 2009 Ms. Diaz No comments

Animarvelous students had to think about what they already know about animals. They wrote down their thoughts and for each thought we asked a question in return.

Watch the video and share your thoughts by clicking on COMMENT. What do you think you know about animals or try to answer one of the questions. We are excited to respond to your comments!

Remember: The easiest way to help animals is to be a good example for your family and friends in the way you treat your pets and all other animals. From the tiniest caterpillar to the biggest bear.

Looking back and looking forward!

Dear Animarvelous Students

Thanks so much for all your enthusiasm and eagerness to understand and help animals. The first three months of school passed quickly and even though we only met once a week you made a difference and did your part for animals.

Thanks to Animarvelous’ request for donations from the ISM Community we were able to make 3 trips with long lists of donations in kind to the PARC Shelter, PAWS.

We have lots more to do when we return from our short break:

  1. Updating our blog with educational info on being compassionate to animals. This info we will share with the rest of the kids in Elementary School.
  2. Getting our responsible pet ownership posters on the bulletin boards.
  3. A possible visit to the PARC Shelter before the end of this semester or during the 2nd semester ~ this still need to be arranged and if successful information will follow.

For this holiday: While enjoying your days away from school make sure to help animals by being a good example for your family/friends in the way you treat your own pets.

Use your voice when an animal cannot speak for him/herself.

Take a photo of an animal this holiday: During the break, please take a photo of your own pet or a photo of a friend’s pet. Perhaps you will visit a Wildlife Reserve (if you are so lucky) and take photos of wild animals.

Pick the photo you like the most and include the following info:

The kind of animal and the name of the animal ~ only if he/she has a name.

The circumstances of the animal ~ living conditions, food and water, space to move etc.

If the animal in your photo could speak, what would he/she say:

Send the photo with info to my email diazi@ismanila.org or bring it to Animarvelous after the break.

Have a great holiday!

Updated donations list

October 4th, 2009 Ms. Diaz No comments

PARC is in urgent need of roofed cages that can fit adult dogs. It doesn’t have to be a donation; loaning them will be more than appreciated.

We also need:

  • Cleaning materials
  • Towels
  • Newspapers
  • Trash Bags
  • Human drinking water
  • Used tarpaulin banners for covering cages

A BIG THANK YOU to all ISM teachers, parents and students who responded to ES Animarvelous’s request for donations for the PARC Shelter situated on the border of Marikina and Quezon. Volunteers continue rescuing animals from Marikina and Pasig.

Thanks to Animal Clinic Alabang that donated 2 boxes of dextrose and IV lines.

We took your donations to PARC on Friday morning, October 2.

We will make another trip to PARC within this week so please feel free to bring your donations to Room 1168, at ISM, Mrs. Diaz.

We appreciate your assistance!
