Jane Goodall ~ The Chimpanzee Lady
Jane Goodall is well-known for her 45-year study of chimpanzee social and family interactions in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania, and for founding the Jane Goodall Institute.
Jane Goodall was born in London, England in 1934. As a child she was given a lifelike chimpanzee toy named Jubilee by her father. Jubilee started her early love of animals. Today, the toy still sits on her dresser in London.
Goodall is best known for her study of chimpanzee social and family life. She began studying the Kasakela chimpanzee community in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania in 1960. In 1977, Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), which supports the Gombe research, and she is a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats.
With nineteen offices around the world, the JGI is widely recognized for innovative, community-centered conservation and development programs in Africa and a global youth program, Roots & Shoots, which currently has over 10,000 groups in over 100 countries.
Today, Goodall devotes virtually all of her time to advocacy on behalf of chimpanzees and the environment, traveling nearly 300 days a year. Goodall is also a board member for the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary outside of Africa, Save the Chimps in Fort Pierce, Florida.

1) If you could make a difference through studying the way of life and behavior of an animal, what animal would you study?
2) Why did you choose this animal?
3) How would your study help in protecting the animal and their habitat?

Lions. Because they are cute, uniqe, brave, and so force. So they would not disapear, they’re still in the zoo, people don’t treat them well.Convince people that lions are not that scary, and they can’t live in a small space and need a lot of needs, and not to sell them easily.
I would study a Giant panda because they are endangered and most of them are in zoo’s .I think they should live in there natural habitat.
I will watch the Girrafes because their endangered and there’s lots of girrafs in the zoo.People does’nt understand them and they don’t listen to them.
I would choose a horse because horses are the most loving animal for me and really want to learn there language more.
I would study the sharks. I wanted to study about the sharks because people think we should kill them because they kill us. My study would help protect the sharks and their environment because maybe people knew Jane Goodall and I might do the same thing as here so the people will think that I am trying to tell them that I am protecting the sharks and their environment.
I would choose the African elephant because African elephants are killed for their ivory.I would go to Africa and watch the elephants and see what they do all day. Then I would tell people what I dicovered.
I would also like to study the Whale and dolphins because people don’t really care about their habitat so much and sometimes people throw garbage in the ocean, create oil spills, make water pollution and make more pollution. My study will help in protecting the whales and dolphins because someday people might think about their habitat.
